Special Education Task Force

The directors of Special Education for the Middle Cities districts have been very involved in Special Education Reform activities taking place at the state level, as well as reforms emerging nationally through the Individuals With Disabilities Act (IDEA.) A subcommittee of the Task Force has conducted a comprehensive review of current state Special Education Rules for purposes of making specific recommendations to the State Board and Legislature on restructuring Special Education in Michigan and proposing specific rules revisions. The Task Force is working closely with MCEA staff, MASA, MDE and Attorney Lyn Beekman on a coordinated policy approach to State Special Education Reform.
