Early Childhood Task Force

The members of the task force who represent the Directors of and Specialists in Early Childhood Education were instrumental in instituting, and actively participate in maintaining, the State School Readiness Program. The program serves 4-year-olds who are at risk of school failure. The task force meets monthly with the statewide Michigan Childcare Task Force as well as individually representing Middle Cities. A number of individual members serve on various state advisory committees on behalf of Middle Cities.

The Task Force has been instrumental in enhancing funding and working to set policy through lobby efforts for the School Readiness Program. The Task force also explores issues and shares information regarding cooperative relationships with the Head Start program, implementing the State Standards of Quality for K-2 Education, incorporating developmentally appropriate and other research based "best practices" in the educational program and conducting longitudinal research to determine program success.
